Things that need words
Last updated: October 2024
This is an ongoing list for ideas or concepts for which I don’t currently know the word, or there isn’t one.
Sometimes inspiration hits and we manage to create a word 😎
So if the concept is accompanied by a word below, that’s the word we’ve invented for it. Feel free to take it and use it if it resonates!
If you have any suggestions for terms, words or improvements, or can direct me to definitions that already exist, please get in touch!

Need words
- When you can’t hear what someone says but their tone of voice tells you it’s a joke
- A situation in a group where no-one initiates action even though everyone knows something needs to be done
- The lack of word or term for something
- Something that tastes exactly like its individual ingredients. This can be both good (“I can taste the X and Y!”) and bad (“This literally just tastes like X and Y”)
- The release of physical tension that comes from actions like untucking tightly made-up bed sheets, or bursting pressurised containers
- The contentment in being low energy and a bit sad knowing you are recuperating for a future high energy time
- The feeling of being met by a high energy person, liking their energy but knowing you need a rest/stop before you meet them where they are - communicating “I’m into it but give me an hour”
